Many thanks to all those who contributed to and attended the Platinum Jubilee celebration at the Village Hall. A large band of volunteers, ably led by David Lambert and his Colston Bassett Events squad, helped deliver a memorable local occasion, with many others also offering support, donations and skills.
The event offered an excellent opportunity for the community to get back together after a long and difficult period, so it was nice to see so many in attendance. An excellent “spread” was on offer, with the culinary skills of John Molnar and his Cods Scallops crew to the fore, superbly supported by our prize-winning Colston Dairy speciality Stilton and Shropshire cheeses and rounded off by the largest selection of celebration cakes ever seen this side of The Smite…
As an extra “plus”, a large sum was also raised by our visiting minstrels towards supporting the Oncology Unit at Nottingham QMC, so our thanks again to them and to all who offered support or simply came along & enjoyed the experience.
As well as financially supporting the event the Parish Council also distributed Platinum Jubilee Mugs to all the parish youngsters, so even those too young to appreciate the day will have a reminder of the great contribution that Her Majesty the Queen has made to all our lives over the past seventy years.
