Colston Bassett Cricket Club

Category: Local Groups

Colston Bassett Cricket Club are based at a beautiful venue off Washpit Lane, adjacent to China Bridge and the River Smite. The Cricket Club host several Teams, both based on village residents as well as in recent years also hosting younger teams from adjacent villages. The Club and grounds are very well maintained by local volunteers and can offer an excellent way to pass a lazy summer afternoon to the pleasant backdrop of willow on leather.

The Cricket Pavilion sits in the valley below Colston Bassett Hall Grounds and St Mary’s Church and can be accessed both by road (off Washpit Lane) or by footpath from either Church Gate (via the signposted Footpath over Pollards Bridge or from Jubilee Walk off New Road). Washpit Lane connects Church Gate and New Road, and looking over the low parapet of China Bridge the outline remnants of the old wash-pit can still be seen at most times of the year, although this area and even the cricket ground have also disappeared under winter and spring floods in recent years.

Contact with the Club can be made via the Parish Clerk, who will refer your enquiry on to the appropriate Cricket Club Officials as appropriate.
